Co-parenting consultation services is a future oriented, solution focused approach to build a more effective co-parenting relationship. Consultation is not psychotherapy and does not involve psychological assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, or development of a treatment plan. This service is designed to assist parents who are struggling to make decisions regarding divorce, are already divorced, parents who have never been married but are co-parenting, and parents living under one roof but struggling with parenting. That is, co-parenting consultation is appropriate for any parents seeking assistance in the challenges of raising children.
In addition to her training as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Furr is trained in family dynamics, conflict resolution and child development. She works with parents to help them improve their communication, make joint decisions in the best interest of the children, and create a positive co-parenting environment. When needed, she can help parents develop or implement a parenting plan, the roadmap for their co-parenting.
Dr. Furr meets with the parents individually or together depending on their needs. The scope and nature of co-parenting consultations is tailored to the particular situation and the agreements reached with Dr. Furr about the scope of services. Parents oftentimes seek this consultation service to be proactive and enhance a co-parenting relationship which prioritizes the well-being of their children, and sometimes it is recommended by attorneys or the Court.
